General Purpose (Polyester): An economical general purpose resin system for grating applications requiring good strength not involving chemical service. • Fire Retardant to a Class I flame spread of 25 or less based on ASTM E-84 testing. | ISO(Isophthalic Polyester): The standard resin system offering an intermediate level of chemical resistance in moderately corrosive environments. A recommended material for most applications involving splash or spill contact with chemicals. • Fire Retardant to a Class I flame spread of 25 or less based on ASTM E-84 testing. | VE(Vinyl Ester): Provides a maximum level of corrosion resistance to aggressive chemical environments. Use in applications where contact with harsh chemicals is frequent. • Fire Retardant to a Class I flame spread of 25 or less based on ASTM E-84 testing. |
Molded Fiberglass Grating has historically been a hand lay-up composite of resin and continuous glass fiber strand that is thoroughly wet out and woven through an open mold. This method leads to a resinous composite which imparts good strength characteristics and high levels of corrosion resistance. The surface is typically a non-slip surface either resin textured or utilizing either embedded angular grit particles, or a glued on sanded surface. The embedded grit surface is both more slip resistant and imparts greater wear resistance than either of the other types. For these reasons embedded grit is more preferred.
